About Me

My name is Eric Risner (pronounced Rise-ner), and I bring over two decades of leadership experience shaped by service, strategy, and a deep passion for developing others. I proudly served in the United States Coast Guard from 2004 to 2024, retiring at the rank of Master Chief after holding multiple leadership positions including Executive Petty Officer, Lead Instructor, and my last position being in Command as the Officer in Charge of Station Tybee in Savannah, GA. My military career sharpened my skills in operational leadership, crisis management, and team resilience—all of which continue to guide my work today as an Agile coach and leadership educator.

My leadership philosophy is grounded in the values I live by: Radiate, Innovate, Serve, and Endure—the RISE principles.

Radiate: Leaders should project clarity, optimism, and courage in uncertain environments. Just as a lighthouse offers guidance in the storm, effective leaders radiate purpose that others can align with.

Innovate: I believe in challenging the status quo to drive meaningful progress. Whether implementing Agile processes at a Coast Guard unit or coaching in federal agencies, I help teams experiment, adapt, and grow.

Serve: At the heart of leadership is service. My experience—from commanding a search and rescue unit to mentoring hundreds of junior personnel—has taught me that servant leadership creates trust, loyalty, and long-term success.

Endure: Leadership isn’t always glamorous. It requires perseverance through conflict, ambiguity, and pressure. I view resilience as a strategic asset, and I work to instill that mindset in every team I lead or coach.
